Study Finds Island With 99% Covid Antibody Rate

Antibodies to Covid-19 were found in 99.2 percent of 2,100 inhabitants in Java, Indonesia’s most populated island, according to a March research. Bali, the country’s major tourist destination, is located on the island, which is home to 150 million people.

Individuals who’ve been vaccinated or those who have recovered from the disease generate antibodies. According to Reuters, almost 60 percent of Indonesia’s 270 million citizens have gotten the vaccine.

Antibody concentrations were greater due to a broader booster shot implementation, according to Pandu Riono, an epidemiologist at the University of Indonesia, which performed the survey alongside the health ministry.

The survey, according to Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, indicates Indonesia’s general high antibody level.

“It shows not only that many people already have antibodies, but high antibody levels. So, if we are attacked by a virus later, our immune system can quickly deal with it and reduce the risk of hospitalization, let alone the risk of death,” Sadikin stated at a Monday press conference.
